Seat of the Scorpion
The Scorpion pose in yoga is one of the most difficult poses to execute and hold. It requires a very strong core and back as this is an incredibly deep back bend. Balance and intense focus are also needed to hold this pose for even a few minutes. It is an inversion, an arm balance, and deep backbend that opens the heart chakra and allows for vulnerability.
I have photographed dozens of yogis and every yoga practice is very unique and personal to the physical characteristics of the body and length of practice. Typically, men who practice yoga are not as flexible as women who practice. Noah is not only a yoga teacher with a dedicated practice of more than 10 years, he is also a former college rugby athlete for the University of Texas. He stands well over 6’ tall and his muscle mass puts him over 200 lbs. It never ceases to amaze me to watch these big muscled athletes move with the grace of a dancer with the ability to suspend a heavy body in the air in an exquisite backbend and hold it for 5 long breaths before transitioning into another pose.
