Grounded
I photographed Jake, who is a ballet dancer and acrobat, on the rock jetty of Will Rogers Beach in Santa Monica, CA. This was an early morning shoot with a cloudy sky and chilly ocean breeze from a coming rainstorm.
The ease of body movement and powerful pose struck me as poetic because it appeared effortless to hold this posture upon uneven rock with the wind a bit gusty. I was perched on the wet uneven rocks below him anchoring myself to keep me and my camera steady with the tide and the wind.
