More Nursing Mother Portraits!
Monday, June 6, 2011 at 06:59PM It's been over a year since I finished the first set of portraits in my nursing mother series called "Mother's Milk, A Sacred Journey". After I finished photographing the mothers who agreed to be a part of my project I began designing a book. I self published this book last summer through Blurb and it is currently still available for sale at Blurb starting at $27.95.
I was a nursing mother when I started this project. My daughter Ella was 8 months old. I am still a nursing mother today and my daughter is 2 years and 3 month old.
I was my intention to somehow find a way to continue this project that is so near and dear to my heart. One of the reasons for doing this series is to bring awareness to extended breast feeding in our American culture. Another is simply to capture a precious and fleeting time of motherhood. No matter how long you choose to nurse your baby that time is so short in comparison to the rest of their lives. Having a portrait to cherish will last forever.
I will be launching a portrait package for nursing mothers in the LA and Orange County areas to comission your very own portrait done in the privacy of your home.
