Shape, Line, & Texture...
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 06:23PM During my first year and my first class at Brooks there is an assignment given to all students taking their first class. The assignment is called "Shape, Line, Texture." We were told to take our 35mm SLR cameras (shooting film) and go out and create images within this broad parameter. I liked this assignment. I laugh now thinking that I took it as a sign that my future assignments were all going to be this easy and this cool. All I had to do was walk around and find cool shapes, lines, and textures? I did that all the time anyway...
I recently went on a hike here in Los Angeles. Los Liones off of Sunset Blvd. My husband and I took our 2 year old daughter with us. When you hike with a toddler you tend to meander instead of hike up the trail. You get plenty of time to "enjoy the view" while coaxing and cajoling your toddler to keep going...up the hill. During my meandering I came across this dried spot of earth. We had recently had some rain so the ground was muddy in this low spot on the trail and had just dried and now begun to crack. It reminded me of the desert. I LOVED the textures so I snapped two images with my Blackberry Curve. While the resolution isn't huge the image still makes an impact. I processed both with Lightroom3.
Enjoy...
